In the late sixties and seventies, a feared serial killer, Ted Bundy, disseminated terror throughout the United States. He was connected to at least thirty-six murders, although some believed he had committed more than one hundred murders. Bundy confessed to killing thirty women in seven states before his execution by electric chair on January 24, 1989. Ted Bundy appeared as a successful and an attractive gentleman, who seemed to have a lot going for him. Nevertheless, ingrained was the heart of a serial killer! Gesture recognition, Motion detecting, Image sensoring are some of the popular technologies which have been popularly used by today’s gaming consoles. 4. 1 Gesture recognition This technology Interface with computers using gestures of the human body, typically hand movements. In gesture recognition technology, a camera reads the movements of the human body and communicates the data to a computer that uses the gestures as input to control devices or applications. Nintendo Wii introduced this technology to the gaming console and later Ps Move and xBox Kinect featured with the technology. Nintendo Wii controllers are the very popular devices which use gesture recognition efficiently. This device that serves as the wireless input for the Nintendo Wii gaming console. The Wi i remote can detect motion and rotation in three dimensions through the use of accelerometer technology. Separating the controller from the gaming console, the accelerometer data can be used as input for gesture recognition. Sony’s PlayStation Move combines a video camera with a physical controller packed with motion-sensing electronics, making it the technological cross between Kinect and the Nintendo Wii. The Move Motion Controller, or wand, combines a gyroscope, accelerometer, and magnetic sensor (a sort of digital compass that uses the Earths magnetic field to determine the controllers orientation) to track the controller in three dimensions, while the glowing ball at the end gives the PlayStation Eye camera a visual reference for handling aiming, cursor movement, and other motion. Like Kinect, PlayStation Move requires room to function; Sony recommends 5 to 9 feet between the player and the Play station Eye, but you can play anywhere from 2 to 10 feet of the camera. In Nintendo Wii, all the motion-control magic is in the remote. An accelerometer tracks movement, while an IR sensor monitors the positioning of lights emitted by the sensor bar. Its motion-sensing abilities werent so great at first; initially, your movements with the Wiimote were reflected only approximately in games with gestures and broad motions. The addition of Wii MotionPlus, an accessory that gives the Wiimote a gyroscope sensor to complement the accelerometer, improves the motion detection greatly. PrimeSense and Kinect go one step further and encode information in the near-IR light. As that information is returned, some of it is deformed — which in turn can help generate a finer image of those objects’ 3-D texture, not just their depth. American Legion Scholarship Association I have been a student here at Ohio University for the past three and a half years. Since the beginning of my education I have learned a lot from my experiences here at Ohio University. I have grown and matured a great deal and my career goals and aspirations have changed enormously throughout my time here. I began my time here as a psychology major and quickly decided that I did not want to be in school more then four years and since you usually must get your masters and doctorate to become a psychologist I changed my mind and decided that this field was not for me. I then switched my major to early childhood education. I love kids and I really thought that I would love to be a teacher but after shadowing teachers and being in classrooms, this was not the career for me. For the amount or time and effort teachers put into their jobs the pay is not worth it. So at the beginning of my senior year in college I decided that I wanted to become a lawyer. It seemed crazy to me becaus e the reason I switched my major to begin with was due to the fact that I didn’t want to be in school any longer then four years and now I am going to be an undergraduate for five years and then have three to four years of law school after that. However, I am very excited about law school because although I know it is going to be a challenge, it is also going to be a great experience and when I complete it I will be so proud of my accomplishments. Upon graduation from law school I would like to begin work in criminal law. I would like to be a prosecutor eventually but this takes both time and experience. I know that I definitely don’t want to be a defense attorney because I don’t think I would be able to represent people that I knew were guilty or that had committed some horrific crime. I want to be the one locking the criminals up not letting them back out onto the streets. For me being a lawyer is not about the money it is about helping put criminals behind bars and making the streets a safer place to be.

Acceptable subject for the play Essay

A taboo subject is a subject that people are embarrassed or find difficult to talk about. Death is a taboo subject because most people are scared of death and don’t want to about it. Usually, when people are talking about taboo subjects, they make it sound better than it is. This is called a euphemism. Lee Hall makes it acceptable in many ways. The first thing is that death is introduced very early on (the first page) so the audience won’t be surprised by it later on, â€Å"the poor lady who dies so well† â€Å"If I could ever grow up. I would †¦Ã¢â‚¬ ¦.do the dying† Also death is introduced with the opera to make death seem beautiful and like an art. The opera is played at various points throughout the play to keep the theme of the staged and beautiful opera going. Spoonface thinks she understands death, â€Å"and the dying makes me so clear† which makes the audience feel better because she feels she knows what is happening but isn’t scared at all. She has a childlike attitude and isn’t embarrassed to talk about anything. She says everything exactly how it is so the audience know exactly what’s going on. She doesn’t use euphemisms to make things sound better than they are, â€Å"I was backwards† â€Å"And now I was going to die†. The audience now know that spoonface knows she is going to die. Normally this could be quite upsetting for the audience because no one likes to hear about people dying but spoonface doesn’t seem to mind therefore the audience are made to believe that the fact spoonface is dying is not too important. Later on in the play, Spoonface, her mum and her dad find out that she can ‘do numbers’. They think that she is a genius which is good because then there isn’t the feeling that Spoonface is extremely unfortunate and nothing ever goes right for her. The audience now know that Spoonface has got her own special thing that she is better at than most people which could make the audience less upset about her condition. Spoonface is not scared of death because she believes that when she dies, she will go to heaven as she believes in God, â€Å"God came and touched me on my head†. This faith she has makes the death seem a lot less worse because the audience know she believes in life after death and spoonface doesn’t seem to mind about the fact she is dying. Because Spoonface doesn’t seem to mind dying, the audience could get mixed feelings. Either they feel better because she doesn’t mind dying or they feel worse because they think Spoonface doesn’t understand what dying is. When Spoonface goes into the hospital, Doctor Bernstein talks openly about the holocaust and concentration camps and spoonface interprets it into her own words quite graphically. This puts Spoonfaces condition into perspective and sort of makes the audience feel more sympathetic towards Doctor Bernstein rather than having everyone focusing their attention on Spoonface. This doesn’t actually make death more bearable, it just gives the audience something tragic to think about to make Spoonface seem less unfortunate. Another thing is the slight humour of the play. It must have been a hard subject to put humour into but Lee Hall did this very well. An example of this humour is when Spoonface gives her list, â€Å"I was supposed to die†¦Ã¢â‚¬ ¦ and we had fish fingers. † Spoonface thinks that having fish fingers for dinner is just as important as the fact she will die. Everyone knows that these two facts are not as important as each other and that having fish fingers is not really important at all. Because Spoonface thinks these things are of equal importance, the audience are led to think that death is not really important either. Lee Hall has written this play through the perspective of a naive child (Spoonface) so he can say whatever he wants and be as blunt as he wants. There are layers of meaning throughout the play because of Spoonfaces naivety. At the end of the play, Spoonface talks about ‘the sparks’. This is her idea of the point of life and death. She believes it is her destiny to be the way she is and that she has found her ‘spark’ and that once you find the spark there isn’t any point in you being alive. The audience think that she has completed what she was put on the earth to do therefore she isn’t really needed. The final point is that after reading the play, the audience gain better awareness and understanding of the play and it may alter people’s perspective on life and could make more people be happy to be alive.

In 1821 Wade moved to Ohio and followed various occupations before beginning the study of law in 1825; with a rapidity which might be the envy of lawyers in more settled societies he was called to the bar in 1827 or 1828 and joined the firm of Joshua Giddings at the very fountainhead of political abolitionism. He became a State senator, then a judge, and in 1851 was sent to the United States Senate where he was soon recognized as an anti-slavery leader. During the war he was chairman of the key Committee on the Conduct of the War. Wade was vigorous, impulsive and likeable; men deprecated his rough methods of speech and distrusted his judgment but nev er questioned his sincerity and integrity. In 1864 Gideon Welles, though thinking that 'the old man was a little acrimonious towards the President', found Wade 'very pleasant and affable'. In 1868, when much water had flowed under the Reconstruction bridge Welles lamented that ' Wade has become demoralized, and is not the plain, single-minded, honest, unambitious man he was a few years since'. Senator Henry Wilson of Massachusetts had been born as Jeremiah Colbath in 1812. on a very poor New England farm. At the age of twenty he changed his name to Henry Wilson, and established himself as a shoemaker at Natick in Massachusetts; here he built up a considerable business and the 'cobbler of Natick' was actually a successful employer of some hundred men. His happy relations with his work-people foreshadowed the future career of one who was to prove himself the canniest vote-getter in all New England and to rise to the highest positions without ever losing touch with the simple voters of his State. Throughout his adolescence he had been an omnivorous reader, and in spite of his lack of education became a widely informed man. He entered State politics as a Whig Free Soiler and was for a time editor of the anti-slavery Boston Republican. For a short period, which he was always to regret, he joined the Know-Nothings but withdrew in protest against their intolerance and refusal to adopt antislavery views.
